Suggested Itinerary
Make your way to London St Pancras this morning for a Eurostar service to Paris. Here, make the easy change to the Gare Montparnasse (metro tickets and directions provided) and pick up a high-speed TGV service which will whisk you the 360 mile distance to Bordeaux in just over 2 hours. On arrival, check in at the Mercure Bordeaux Gare Atlantique (or similar), located near to the station.
There should be plenty of time this evening to sample some delicious Bordelais cuisine, accompanied by a glass of locally produced wine.
Pick up your hire car from Bordeaux station today and drive to your home for the next 4 nights, the Mercure Villeneuve-sur-Lot Moulin de Madame (or similar), perhaps making a stop on the way in the pretty town of Bergerac.
You have plenty of time to discover this lovely corner of France at your own pace. There are a profusion of pretty villages to visit including Collonges-la-Rouge, Domme, Beaulieu-sur-Dordogne and the world-famous Rocamadour (pictured). You might also like to browse the food markets of Sarlat and Meyssac, sail down the river in a canoe (or traditional Gabarre), or marvel at the cave paintings in one of the region’s prehistoric grottes. After a day out, relax and enjoy a meal with panoramic views at your hotel.
Make your way back to Bordeaux this morning to drop off your car and then catch a train back to Paris, transferring across the city by metro to reach the Gare du Nord for your Eurostar service back to the UK.
