Suggested Itinerary
Leave London St Pancras this morning and catch a Eurostar to Paris in Eurostar Plus class. It’s an easy connection to the Gare de Lyon and you’ll have time to pick up some lunch before you board the TGV service which will speed south through France to the Côte d’Azur. Alternatively, if you have the time, why not take the opportunity to break your journey in Paris for the night?
On arrival in Cannes, check in at the conveniently located OKKO Cannes Central Hotel (or similar), for an overnight stay.
You have a free morning in Cannes, so why not have a wander along the famous sea-front promenade of La Croisette? You could also browse the tempting little shops and cafés of Le Suquet, the old town area of Cannes.
At lunchtime, make your way back to the station and catch a train across the Italian border to Ventimiglia. Your onward journey takes you along the Ligurian Coast via the maritime city of Genoa to Sestri Levante. Disembark here and check in for 1 night at the Miramare Hotel (or similar).
Once a quiet fishing village, Sestri Levante is now becoming a popular destination for visitors to nearby Portofino and the Cinque Terre. Spend a free morning here before returning to the station and catching a direct train to Rome. From Rome, it’s a couple of hours to Salerno, where your transfer will be waiting to take you to the Amalfi Coast and the Hotel Raito (or similar), where you have 5 nights.
TMR RECOMMENDS: If you have the time, it’s worth spending an extra night or two in Sestri Levante so that you can visit the UNESCO World Heritage listed villages of the Cinque Terre.
You have four full days to explore the stunning UNESCO World Heritage listed region of the Amalfi Coast from your base in the popular town of Vietri sul Mare. There is only one road along this craggy stretch of coastline, running from Salerno to Positano, so the best way to get out and about is by boat. There are also several hiking trails along the coast, boasting spectacular views.
In Vietri itself, allow time to wander around the historic centre of the town and visit some of the many ceramics shops for which this town is famous. Starting your evenings with a limoncello spritz is highly recommended!
After breakfast this morning, meet your private transfer driver at your hotel for the drive to Naples Centrale station. From here, catch a train up through the heart of Italy to Bologna. Here, check in for an overnight stay at the Starhotels Excelsior (or similar), located within easy reach of the station and the centre of this stunning medieval city.
After a leisurely start this morning, with time to have another walk around the centre of Bologna with its distinctive Renaissance towers, return to the station and board a train bound for Munich. Your journey takes you up into the Alps and through the Brenner Pass in the Italian and Austrian Tyrol before you cross the German border and arrive into Bavaria.
When you arrive in Munich, make your way to the Eurostars Book Hotel (or similar) close to the station, where you have an overnight stay.
Leave your hotel after breakfast this morning and return to the station for your homeward journey via Frankfurt and Brussels. You’ll arrive back into London St Pancras at around 8pm this evening.
