Luxury Verona Opera by Rail
DAY 1 - LONDON TO LAUSANNE

Depart from London St Pancras this morning on a Eurostar service to Paris in Eurostar Plus (First) class.  On arrival in Paris, make an easy change by metro or taxi to the Gare de Lyon.

In the afternoon, board a TGV Lyria service in First Class, as you zoom through the French countryside and into Switzerland. When you arrive into Lausanne, you are staying overnight at the 5-star Beau-Rivage Palace on the shores of Lake Geneva.

DAY 2 - LAUSANNE TO VERONA

Spend a free morning in Lausanne and then in the afternoon, travel by rail alongside the vineyards of the Lavaux Region, and the famous Chateau de Chillon, then through the spectacular Swiss and then Italian Alps to Milan. From here, a quick service brings you to Verona Porta Nuova station.

On arrival, check in at the Hotel Due Torri (or similar) in time for a late dinner in the historic heart of the city. You have 3 nights here.

DAYS 3 & 4 - VERONA AND THE OPERA

Verona boasts some beautiful examples of Roman and medieval architecture and is also a popular destination for visitors because of its connection with Shakespeare, who set two fo his plays here. It’s not known if Shakespeare actually ever set foot in Verona (or indeed Italy) but you can still visit the house and balcony where Juliet lived – and pined after Romeo.

You have plenty of time to visit this and other attractions before your evening performance in the splendid Arena di Verona. You be seated on one of the rows of seats, rather than on the cold, stone steps so you can relax and enjoy the opera.

DAY 5 - VERONA TO MUNICH

Leave your hotel this morning and make your way back to the station for a scenic rail journey which will take you across the Austrian border and through the Alps via the Brenner Pass to Munich. On arrival in Munich, check in for an overnight stay at the Sofitel Munich Bayerpost (or similar).

DAY 6 - MUNICH TO LONDON

After breakfast in your hotel, return to Munich’s main station and catch a high-speed ICE service to Brussels via Frankfurt. Once in Brussels, it’s an easy change on to the Eurostar back to London. If you have time, it’s makes for a more relaxing journey if you stop off en route back to the UK in Cologne or Brussels.
