Suggested Itinerary
Fly from London to Canada and, on arrival at Pearson International Airport, head to the Hilton Toronto (or similar) for your 3-night stay.
Canada’s largest urban area, Toronto is a bustling cosmopolitan city with attractions that will appeal to everyone. With top-notch restaurants and museums, theatre and galleries, there is plenty to see and do. The skyscrapers in downtown Toronto pinpoint Canada’s financial hub – don’t miss the iconic CN Tower, which provides fantastic views over Lake Ontario.
Continue to explore Toronto at leisure. On one of your free days, you will be picked up from your hotel and taken on a day trip to Niagara Falls, around 80 miles away.
The second you set eyes upon the monstrous Niagara River rumbling towards a 188-ft waterfall at about 20 to 30 (and up to 68) miles per hour, you will be left speechless. From the top of the falls, crowds swarm to the railings to feel the effect of the mist on their faces. As you follow the water’s path downwards, boats, platforms and observation decks cater to colourful poncho-clad visitors.
Today you embark on your first train journey of the holiday, as you make your way to Toronto Union Station for your VIA Rail service Canadian capital, Ottawa. On arrival at your destination, check into the Westin Ottawa (or similar) for a 2-night stay.
Canada’s eclectic capital has a lower-key feel than many of the major conurbations that surround it. Enjoy a stroll along the Rideau Canal, visit the National Gallery of Canada and certainly don’t miss climbing up the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill for breathtaking panoramic views.
Board another InterCity service that makes its way across the plains of eastern Ontario and into the French-speaking state of Quebec. Your home for the next 3 nights is the Manoir Victoria (or similar) where you stay for 3 nights.
With its dramatic Château Frontenac looming over the old city and the St Lawrence River, Quebec City boasts an abundance of French-Canadian cultural and historical heritage. Nowhere is this better showcased than in the UNESCO-protected Vieux-Quebec, the Old City. Don’t miss a walk along the city walls, the only walls of their kind in North America.
Return back to Gare du Palais for your travel back to Montreal. The journey takes around 3 hours and when you reach Montreal Central, you check into the Hotel ALT Montreal (or similar), also for 3 nights.
Montreal was one of the first cities in Canada and is now the second-most populous French-speaking cities in the world after Paris. With so many galleries and museums, the world’s second-largest botanical garden along with numerous parks, there is so much to occupy your time. The Old Town has a hint of medieval Europe, along with cuisine with a Gallic twist.
Today its time to pack your bags and say goodbye to Canada as you make your way to Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport for your overnight flight back to the UK.
