Check in for a 2-night stay at the Dukes Palace Residence (or similar) and, once you’ve settled in, head out to explore for your first evening.

DAY 2 - BRUGES

Bruges is a very walkable city, with cobbled streets and canals criss-crossed with bridges. There are two Christmas markets here, offering around 150 stalls between them. The larger market on the Grote Markt is the more traditional. The other market is on Simon Stevinplein and features more artisanal products.

You can also enjoy regular performances by local choirs and other festive treats throughout the Christmas market period.

You have an ‘open’ ticket to get you back to Brussels today, so you can catch any train. The journey takes 50 minutes and once you arrive into the Belgian capital, you’ll be checking in at the Dominican Hotel (or similar) for a 2-night stay.

The hotel is very centrally located so you can easily make your way to the famous Grand Place this evening to catch the nightly sound-and-light show which plays across the lovely guild houses around the square.

DAY 4 - BRUSSELS

Enjoy a free festive day out in Brussels. There’s plenty to see here if you want to focus on Christmas-related activities. You can shop at a choice of markets dotted around the city centre. You can take a ride on the big ferris wheel on the Place Sainte-Catherine or take a turn around the ice rink. There are also regular opportunities for glühwein and chocolate tasting. Elsewhere, you can also pay a visit to the Chocolate Museum or the iconic Atomium with its fascinating exhibitions.

DAY 5 - BRUSSELS TO LONDON

Depending on where you’re based in the UK, you’ll probably have plenty of time for another morning in Brussels before you need to collect your bags from your hotel and make your way back to the Gare du Midi for your return journey back to London.
