You have two full days at leisure in Singapore today. This fascinating city has many distinct districts to explore. Whether you want to discover Tao-Buddhist temples in Chinatown, take a bumboat tour from Clark Quay or shop until you drop on Orchard Road, there’s something for everyone here.
After a long day of exploration, perhaps enjoy some authentic Malay food in Kampong Glam or swim in one of the city’s huge outdoor, palm fringed swimming pools.
Spend another morning in Singapore before heading to Woodlands station to begin your luxurious journey aboard the Eastern & Oriental Express, bound for Bangkok. Once onboard, settle into your private cabin as the train crosses the Straits of Johor and continues on through southern Malaysia.
Dinner will be served in one of the train’s opulent dining cars. Afterwards, why not head to the Bar Car to relax with fellow travellers before retiring to your cabin, which will have been transformed into an inviting bedroom.
Spend your morning aboard the Eastern & Oriental Express, watching the rice paddy fields and rural villages of Western Malaysia pass your window. Breakfast is served in your cabin at a time to suit you. And then later on, you might like to take advantage of the onboard spa to have a pampering massage.
After lunch, the train stops at Arau Station where you have a choice of excursions: Transfer by car and then speed boat to the archipelago of Langkawi and enjoy a choice of relaxing wellness activities on one of Langkawi’s beautiful beaches, then, take a boat cruise through the mangrove forests of Kilim Geoforest Park. Or visit Perlis Geopark and take a cyle tour through a natural wonderland. Alternatively, earn to make your own batik, visit the personal collection of an antique enthusiast and prepare your own afternoon tea in a traditional Malaysian coffee shop.
Tonight, enjoy a sumptuous dinner back aboard the train.
After breakfast this morning, alight the train for the crossing to Penang Island. Here, you can choose to take an art tour of George Town Old Quarter on the back of a Vespa or learn to cook Malaysian specialities after shopping in local markets for ingredients. Alternatively, take a tri-shaw, a driver and a map and explore independently.
Lunch is served back on the train and then you can choose to spend an afternoon at leisure, perhaps enjoying a pampering passage in the Dior Spa. Or alternatively, you can disembark for an optional tour of Ipoh, gateway to the Cameron Highlands. This evening, a final celebratory dinner is served accompanied by onboard entertainment.
Enjoy a final breakfast onboard this morning, before you arrive back into Singapore Woodlands station. You’ll be met by a transfer driver who will take you back to the Fullerton Hotel (or similar) for your last night.
You can choose to spend the rest of the day exploring or simply relax and enjoy the facilities on offer at your hotel.
Meet your transfer driver at your hotel and leave Singapore today for your return flight to the UK.
