Suggested Itinerary
Your adventure begins this morning at London St Pancras as you make your way from London to Paris on a high-speed Eurostar service. Here, make your way to the Gare de Lyon for an onward TGV service into Italy.
On arrival into Turin, check in at the Starhotels Majestic (or similar) for an overnight stay and then perhaps head out for dinner in the heart of town.
Depart Turin this morning on a direct service all the way down the spine of Italy to Bari on the Adriatic Coast. You’ll arrive in the early evening just in time for dinner, and check in for an overnight stay at the Mercure Villa Romanazzi Carducci (or similar).
Leave your luggage at your hotel and enjoy a day in Bari today. The capital of the Puglia region, Bari is an historic port city with a pretty old town (Barivecchia) threaded with narrow streets and a medieval castle dating back to 1132.
Perhaps enjoy an early evening meal in town before collecting your bags and making your way to the port for your overnight ferry service to Patras.
Your morning today is spent onboard the ferry before the Greek coast comes into view and you dock at Patras around lunchtime. Once you dock, you’ll be met by a transfer driver who will take you along the Gulf of Corinth to Athens, with a stop at the Corinth Canal, a wonderful feat of 19th century engineering.
On arrival in Athens, check in for a 3-night stay at the Herodion Hotel (or similar).
In many way, Athens is the historic capital of Europe, with a history dating from the first settlement in the Neolithic age. Ancient monuments abound here, including the world-famous Acropolis overlooking the city. As you would expect, there is also a wide choice of museums covering everything from archaeology to modern art.
A large part of the city’s historic centre has been now converted into Europe’s largest pedestrianised zone so you can not only sight-see but also shop at over 2,500 stores or, for from the street vendors in the Plaka and Monastiraki districts.
After a last look around Athens today, it’s time to head home as you check out of your hotel and make your way to the airport for your return flight back to London (not included).
