Suggested Itinerary
Catch a direct Eurostar this morning from London St Pancras to Amsterdam and check in for a 2-night stay at the JL No 76 Hotel (or similar), within easy reach of the main station.
Amsterdam is one of Europe’s most popular city destinations, with its characteristic network of canals lined with 17th century Golden Age gabled houses, its world-class museums and its countless bikes. During your stay here, you might like explore some or all of these options! Cycle hire is readily available throughout the city, but if you would like to visit the Van Gogh Museum, we would strongly recommend booking this in advance to avoid the queues. Please ask us about adding this to your package.
Enjoy a leisurely start to your day with breakfast at your hotel and time for another wander around Amsterdam’s Canal District before your direct train service from Amsterdam to Berlin. You should be able to purchase snacks and drinks onboard the train, but we would recommend bringing your own supplies for lunch as well.
On arrival in Berlin in the early evening, check in at the conveniently located Arcotel John F (or similar) for a 3-night stay.
You have two full days to discover the sights of the German capital. Berlin has been very much at the centre of European history, particularly in the 20th century when it became the centre of the Third Reich before being cut brutally in two by the Berlin Wall during the Cold War. There are some fascinating museums documenting this history, including the highly recommended DDR Museum. You can also head back into history by browsing the vast complex on Museum Island. Elsewhere, why not take in a different view of the city with a boat trip along the River Spree or a tour by old East German Trabant!
Enjoy another relaxed morning today before boarding another direct service, via Dresden and across the Czech border to Prague. Your journey takes you along the pretty Elbe River Valley and at Dresden, you will be able to see the beautiful ‘Balcony of Europe’ or Brühl’s Terrace on the opposite bank of the river.
Once you arrive into Prague, check in at the Liberty Hotel (or similar). Prague’s historic centre is a fair walk from the Hlavni station so we’ve chosen a more centrally located hotel option here. You can add a private transfer if you would like – or simply take a taxi from the rank outside on arrival in Prague.
Enjoy a full day exploring all that Prague has to offer. Perhaps take a walk up to the Castle Complex with its grand Cathedral, fascinating Golden Lane and sweeping views over the city. If you cross the river by the famous Charles Bridge, you’ll be the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town, with its medieval architecture and world-famous astronomical clock. There are plenty of shops and restaurants to discover here and there’s also plenty to see in the New Town, including Charles Square, the largest medieval square in Europe.
Leave Prague after breakfast this morning and return to the main station for a direct train journey to Munich. Once again, there should be catering facilities onboard, but we’d recommend stocking up on your own snacks and drinks just in case. You’ll cross back into Germany and Furth im Wald and head into Bavaria, arriving into Munich in the mid-afternoon, where you will check in for an overnight stay at the conveniently located Eurostars Book Hotel (or similar).
Once you’ve settled in, there’s plenty of time to head out into the centre of the city, perhaps enjoying a stein (locally known as a ‘mass’) of Bavarian beer in a traditional beer hall or finding somewhere nice for dinner.
There’s time for another morning wander around Munich today before you return to the station and make a 2-hour train journey to Stuttgart. We recommend a lunch-stop here (there are left-luggage facilities in the station if you need them) before you make your onward journey by high-speed TGV to Paris.
On arrival in Paris, check in at the 25hrs Terminus Nord Hotel (or similar). Enjoy an evening out in the City of Light – or perhaps extend your stay so that you have more time to spend in the French capital?
Depending on how far you have to go to get home today, we can arrange a convenient Eurostar departure for you from the Gare du Nord back to London at the end of your relaxing holiday.
