
Why we are moving to digital rail tickets for our holidays
Our rail travel and ticket documents are going digital!
We are always seeking ways to enhance our service for our customers. By going digital, we are streamlining and simplifying your documents, making your Tailor Made Rail holiday as stress-free and easy as possible.
As rail operators continue to evolve their ticketing technology, many are shifting towards digital tickets, often providing user-friendly apps and secure ticketing solutions. We’re making the rest of your documents digital, including hotel confirmations and any added extras you’ve booked.
What are the benefits of digital rail tickets and documents?
- Everything in one PDF. We’ll send everything you need including tickets, seat reservations and hotel bookings in one easy to use PDF, organised by day.
- Secure and reliable. Sending your digital rail tickets by email ensures a quick and seamless delivery, straight to your inbox.
- Get help more easily. With all your documents and tickets are together in one place, it’s easy for us to see and help with any questions.
- Sustainability. Using digital rail tickets will minimise your carbon footprint, save on paper and reduce emissions. It’s the greenest delivery method there is!
- Access tickets on the go. Storing everything on your smart phone is easy, and minimises the risk of lost tickets.
You’ll need a smartphone
If you’re planning to store tickets on your mobile, you’ll need to ensure you have data and enough battery to be able to access your tickets. We suggest downloading your travel documents PDF to your phone.
It’s a good idea to take a power bank for emergency charging, and some customers also opt to take a print out of their digital PDF.
Rail Passes – digital and paper passes
Many of our customers use rail passes as part of their inclusive package with us. When you book, you are currently able to choose a paper rail pass or a mobile rail pass – known as an M-Pass – accessed via the Interrail Planner mobile phone app.
If you opt for a paper rail pass, we will send it out by post and email the rest of your digital tickets and documents. In the future, it is likely that all passes will move to a digital, app-based version.
Can I opt to take paper tickets?
Whilst we will usually send digital rail passes, tickets and documents, we recognise that it’s not for everyone.
If you’d prefer a printed copy, we can issue a paper rail pass and post your documents to you.
