Suggested Itinerary
Take your seat on the Eurostar this morning and travel under the English Channel to France and then on to Brussels, where you change onto the German high-speed network. You’ll arrive in Berlin this evening and check in for a 2-night stay at the Intercity Berlin Hauptbahnhof (or similar).
Spend a full day exploring the German capital. Berlin has been at the centre of European history, particularly during the 20th century. You can learn more about the former East Germany at the fascinating DDR Museum or find out about Jewish history at the largest museum of its kind in Europe.
In the morning, you have a complimentary walking tour included in your holiday, which gives you an overview of the central Mitte district including the remains of the Berlin Wall, the Reichstag and the Brandenburg Gate.
A rail journey of under 2 hours brings you to Dresden, where you check in for a 2-night stay at the NH Dresden Altmarkt (or similar).
Dresden is the capital of the Saxony region of Germany, straddling both banks of the River Elbe. The most famous landmarks here are the imposing Frauenkirche, destroyed during allied bombing in WWII and then rebuilt at the end of the last century, and the lovely Brühl’s Terrace overlooking the river.
Another short rail journey takes you through Saxony to Leipzig, where you check in for a 2-night stay at the Adina Apartment Hotel Leipzig (or similar).
Enjoy a full day at leisure in this historic city, which has been an important trade hub since Roman times as well as a centre of publishing and of music. Both J.S. Bach and Felix Mendelssohn lived and worked here.
Leave Leipzig after breakfast this morning and make your way back to the station for your service to Brussels via Frankfurt. Once at Brussels Midi station, transfer onto the Eurostar back to London at the end of your exciting holiday.
