Suggested Itinerary
Fly into Bergen and check in at the Clarion Admiral hotel (or similar) for a 2-night stay.
Spend two days exploring Bergen, Norway’s handsome gateway to the fjords, where colourful wooden wharves, mountain views and inviting shops create a wonderfully atmospheric winter stay. Wander through the historic Bryggen district, browse the lively fish market or ride the Fløibanen funicular for sweeping views across the city and harbour. As the evenings draw in, Bergen’s welcoming restaurants, lively bars and cosy cafés make it the perfect place to settle into Norwegian life before venturing deeper into the country’s spectacular landscapes.
It’s an early start from Bergen today as you head for the harbour and catch a ferry which will take you along Norway’s stunning western coast, past fjords and inlets up to the fishing village of Måløy. Here, transfer to a bus for a scenic journey by road via Nordfjordeid at the head of the Nordfjord in the direction of Alesund. Arriving here, you’ll check in for a 2-night stay at the Thon Hotel Alesund (or similar).
The city of Ålesund stretches across several islands into the Atlantic Ocean. It’s famous for its Art Nouveau architecture and dramatic natural setting. Spend the evening unwinding here after your day of travel.
After breakfast at your hotel this morning, you’ll be treated to a full day exploring the beautiful Geirangerfjord. Enjoy a fjord cruise, featuring steep cliffs and majestic waterfalls. The boat is comfortably heated so that you can relax and enjoy the ride or heat out on deck for some bracing views! You’ll also have a bus tour to the Flydalsjuvet viewpoint giving you spectacular views over the entire fjord.
In the evening, return to Alesund for a second night here.
Enjoy a full day exploring Norway’s stylish capital, where contemporary architecture sits alongside fascinating history and waterfront views. Visit the striking opera house overlooking the harbour, stroll through the revitalised Bjørvika district or discover world-class museums, including the Munch Museum, home of The Scream. Warm up in inviting cafés, browse the shops or unwind with a traditional Nordic sauna overlooking the Oslofjord. As evening falls, soak up the city’s relaxed atmosphere over a delicious dinner featuring fresh Norwegian seafood and other local specialities.
After breakfast this morning, it’s time to check out of your hotel and make your way to the airport for your return flight to the UK. Alternatively, we can also add the ‘Norway in a Nutshell’ package to this holiday, starting and finishing in Oslo. You could have an additional night in Oslo and do this as a day trip, or we recommend spending a night in Flam or Voss to break up the tour. Please call us for details.
